PLEASE NOTE
This tour includes the 'off the beaten track' northern islands where very few tourists go. This is a major part of the attraction. It also means that tourist facilities are very limited! Manihiki has 2 simple but pleasant lagoon side overbeach bungalows with shower, toilet and fan (first to reserve gets them!) plus 2 rooms in a shared bungalow. Pukapuka provides local bungalows only. Meals will be relatively simple using local ingredients but will be more than adequate in substance. Normally breakfast and lunch ingredients are provided to make your own and dinner will be provided by the local people. Electricity is available 24 hours a day on Manihiki and lesser hours on Pukapuka. Internet may be accessed locally but cell phone service is not available.

Travel from Rarotonga back to Rarotonga will be by twin engine turbo prop Bandeirante aircraft. This normally carries 13 passengers but for our flight will have a maximum of 7. Baggage will be absolutely restricted to 10 kilos per person and accurate passenger weights will have to be provided on reservation - and checked on check in at Rarotonga!

This tour is for those who can abandon their cell phones, accept erratic email service, and just relax and enjoy the friendly islanders and relaxed pace of life on a remote atoll which normally gets 1 flight every 2 weeks and 1 ship every 2 months. The lagoon in Manihiki is fabulous for swimming, diving, and snorkelling. Fresh fish can be on the menu daily (self caught if you wish)
Manihiki is home to the Cook Islands Black Pearl Industry. You will have the opportunity to buy direct from the growers.

Manihiki's lagoon measures some 44.6 square km enclosed by a reef some 17 km long topped by 30 atolls, 2 of which are inhabited. A total of around 300 people still live here.
